About the event
You became a leader because you were good at your job. You knew your stuff, solved problems, and people trusted you with the hard calls. You probably assumed leadership would buy you more time for the big picture.
Instead, you became the office oracle. A ping on Slack. A "got a sec?" in the hallway. And because you know the answer, you give it, it's quicker, easier, feels like helping.
Until "helping everyone else" quietly becomes your full-time job, and your actual job gets squeezed into the gaps around it. You're firefighting instead of focusing. Your team gets comfortable outsourcing their thinking to you. You become the bottleneck, and their confidence stalls right when you need it to grow.
So how much of your day is leaking out through the door marked "just ask them"? Could be 25%. Could be 50%. You're not doing anything wrong, you've just fallen into a habit, the way anyone would.
Now imagine clawing back even half of that time. More headspace. More energy for the work only you can do. Maybe a bit of your sanity back by 6pm.
Here's the truth: you don't have a people problem. You have an ownership problem, and you're carrying way more of it than you signed up for.
The fix isn't to stop being helpful. It's to help differently: stop being the person with all the answers, start being the person who helps others find their own.
What if the most powerful thing you could do... was not answer?
Give someone a fish, feed them for a day. Teach them to fish, feed them for a lifetime. Same rule applies at your desk.
Handing someone the answer fixes today's problem. Helping them find it themselves builds ownership, capability, and the confidence to do it again without you.
The Art of Not Answering is a hands-on, in-person training for leaders who are done being the answer key for everyone around them. You'll leave with a simple, practical shift in how you respond, so your team starts thinking for themselves, and you start getting your time back.
What You’ll Walk Away With
By the end of the session, you’ll have:
A new way of responding that helps people think for themselves instead of automatically giving them the answer.
A simple coaching framework you can use in your very next conversation.
Practical words and approaches for handling the next “quick question” or problem someone brings you that they could potentially resolve themselves.
A way to respond when someone pushes back with, “Just tell me what to do.”
Real practice and feedback in the room — not just theory.
A clearer understanding of how to build ownership and capability without simply stepping back and leaving people to figure it out alone.
Who This Is For
This workshop is for you if:
You became a leader through your expertise, not because anyone actually taught you how to lead.
You started your own business and suddenly found yourself with people to manage as well as a business to run.
You're the go-to person for every question, every decision and every fire.
You find yourself stepping in, fixing things and solving problems because it's quicker than explaining or waiting.
You know you should be delegating and developing your team more - but you're not always sure how to do that without things going wrong.
You want your people to grow, think and take ownership, not just execute what you've told them to do.
And, frankly, you'd quite like some of your time and headspace back.
A Bit About Your Trainer:

Hi, I’m Gill.
I’m the founder of Leadergility and a Leadership & Relational Intelligence Coach and Trainer, with over 20 years’ experience helping leaders and teams work better together.
I bring a practical, human-centred approach to the human side of leadership - helping leaders build self-awareness, stronger relationships, better conversations and more capable teams.
I work with managers, technical experts, entrepreneurs and “accidental leaders” to become more conscious and confident in how they lead, communicate and bring out the best in others.
My focus is simple: helping leaders stop carrying everyone else’s problems and create the ownership, capability and confidence that allows people to think, decide and act for themselves.
